YOU SAID ............WE DID

Thank you to our patients who completed the "Your NHS Wales GP Experience Questionnaire", available to patients to complete in February 2025.  This year a total of  298 responses were received highlighting the following themes: -

"Some patients thought the only option to book an appointment was to ring at 08:00 hrs on the day" -  non-acute /routine appointments are available to book up to 4 weeks in advance.  We welcome patients to ring the either Neyland or Johnston surgery after 09:00 hrs to book these appointments.  We aim to highlight the booking options available to patients via our social media pages e.g. website and Facebook pages.

"Telephone to book an appointment" - in the near future we hope enable the function within the NHS Wales App for patients to book routine appointments, as well as to cancel them.

"Phone system is still at times challenging." - we are currently looking into the possibility of a "call back" feature on our telephone system.  This will allow patients to maintain their place in the queue, to receive a call back when a receptionist is available to take their call.

"Be seen by a Doctor! " - it is not always necessary to be seen by a GP for your ailments, and at times another clinician is more appropriate for your needs for example, a GP will not dress a wound, and a nurse or HCA is more appropriate.  We have an experienced multi-disciplinary team available at both surgeries comprising of General Practitioners, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, an Advanced Paramedic Practitioner, as well as an excellent nursing team who are experts within their field; who will always deal with patients in a professional caring manner.  For this reason our reception staff are expected to ask for a brief description of your ailment prior to booking your appointment to ensure you are booked with an appropriate clinician.

"Report blood tests when they come in even if no further action is required as I was worried about the results" - All patients are welcome to contact the surgery, any afternoon, to receive their test results.  It would be impossible for us to inform all patients of their results, as we routinely receive on average 150 results a day.
