TESTS ORGANISED BY HOSPITAL DOCTORS
We do not get results of tests requested by hospital doctors. These are sent straight to the hospital and you should contact the secretary of the consultant/ specialist you are under. Results from these tests are usually available at your next hospital appointment.
Phlebotomy appointments are available most weekday mornings either in our Neyland practice or in Johnston. Appointments are pre-bookable by telephone. There is high demand for phlebotomy appointments and our receptionists may only be able to offer you an appointment within 2-3 weeks.
Please remember on the day of your blood test you must book in at reception, even if you have a pre-booked appointment) so that the phlebotomist knows you have arrived.
Before attending for a blood test your doctor or nurse will have told you which tests are needed and you may have a form to give to the phlebotomist. We can also take blood tests requested by your hospital doctor, it is important that you bring any forms with you.
We are unable to take bloods not requested by your doctor or nurse.

Please allow at least five working days before telephoning the surgery for your result. Complex test results may take longer than this to reach the surgery, and your doctor, nurse, health care assistant or phlebotomist will let you know how long to wait before contacting us for the result.
